Biography
He started working for PAHO/WHO in 1987 as a programmer at the Pan American Center for Zoonosis. In 1991, he was a consultant in the area of information systems at the Pan American Center for Foot-and-Mouth Disease. In 1992, he joined the Pan American Institute for Food Protection and Zoonosis (INPPAZ) as a program analyst, and in 2002, was the head of Information Technology. In 2002, he was the coordinator for the Technical Cooperation Agreement for BIREME (PAHO/WHO), between this Center and the National Health Surveillance Agency of Brazil (ANVISA). In 2005, he became the Project Manager of marketing and innovation. In the same year, he became the Regional Advisor for Information Dissemination in the area of Information and Knowledge Management, and was in charge of the Web, Intranet, Social Networks and the PAHO/WHO Central Library. In 2008, he became the Senior Advisor for Knowledge Management, and in 2010, was appointed as the Director of Knowledge Management and Communications at PAHO, supervising the teams and projects for Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning, Public Information, Media Relations, Library and Information Networks, eHealth, Social Networks, Editorial services, Institutional Branding, and the Latin American Center for Health Science and Information (BIREME). In February 2014, was appointed Director for the Department of Knowledge Management, Bioethics and Research. In june 2016 was appointed as Senior Advisor for Big Data and Knowledge Management..
